Violence in the Workplace
Managing aggressive behavior and preventing workplace violence has emerged as a serious health and safety issue in today’s workplace. It’s a growing concern for a number of occupational sectors. Developed by WorkSafeBC, and Presented by Petersen Safety Group a WorkSafeBC Training Partner this course helps employers to create safer workplaces. It gives them the tools they need, including strategies for recognizing the warning signs, defusing situations, and preventing violence at work.
Description
This course is designed to help equip employers and workers with the knowledge and tools needed to reduce workplace violence. Participants learn about regulatory requirements, how to conduct a risk assessment, prevention procedures,and key elements for developing an effective violence prevention program for the workplace.
The course consists of five modules:
- Violence in theWorkplace:Regulatory Requirements
- Violence Risk Assessment
- Violence Prevention Procedures
- Violence Prevention Program
- Industry-Specific Workshop
Who Should Attend
This course is intended for joint health and safety committee members, worker health and safety representatives, supervisors, workers, and health and safety professionals who are committed to preventing violence in the workplace.

- Course Requirements
This course qualifies for the Workers Compensation Act Section 135 training entitlement for joint health and safety committee members or work representatives.
WorkSafeBC certificates can be awarded to participants that successfully complete the course.
